Melanie Slade is the girlfriend of Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott. Melanie and Theo first met outside the shop where Mel worked at West Quay shopping mall in Southampton. Melanie was outside with a basket in her hand when Walcott's friend announced "the basket is for phone numbers".

She has a sister and two half-sisters, who are her father's daughters. Gercke was dating US5-boyband member Jay Khan until December 2009. Since 2011 her boyfriend is Real Madrid footballer Sami Khedira. She is living in Berlin and New York.
